Mrs. Patti Burczyk
Mrs.
Burczyk
has been at Cross of Christ since
2005, working in various capacities in the Early Childhood
Building. She graduated from Ottawa University with a Bachelors
Degree in Early Childhood Studies in 2008.
A native of the Midwest, Mrs. Burczyk
and her family moved to Anthem in 2004 from Munster, Indiana. In
her spare time she enjoys reading, hiking and spending time with
her family. Mrs. Burczyk and her husband, Greg have been married
for 20+ years and have four sons.

Cheryl Geyer
Mrs. Cheryl Geyer is a graduate of Concordia Teachers College in
River Forest, Illinois. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Early
Childhood Education and in Elementary Education and a Master’s
degree in Early Childhood Education.
Teaching and being with children brings much joy to Cheryl’s
life. She loves to share her love of literature and music and
make different units come alive in the classroom.
Cheryl and her husband Thomas have three children. They are
members of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Anthem.

Thomas Geyer
Mr. Thomas Geyer is a graduate of Concordia Teachers College in
River Forest, Illinois. He earned both his Bachelor and Masters
Degrees at Concordia, the latter in administration. Tom has
served as a teacher, athletic director, coach, and principal in
Lutheran schools in Chicago, Illinois; Elkhart, Indiana; Fort
Worth, Texas, and here in Anthem. While serving as principal at
St. Paul Lutheran School in Fort Worth, Tom led his faculty
through the process that earned the school the 2006 NCLB National
Blue Ribbon School award, the most prestigious award bestowed upon
a school.
A product of Lutheran education and a child of a teacher, Tom
loves what he does and couldn’t imagine doing anything else. He
enjoys the challenges and new opportunities each day brings in a
Christian environment.
In his spare time, Tom enjoys watching sporting events,
particularly Detroit Pistons, Detroit Red Wings, and University of
Michigan football.
Tom and his wife, Cheryl, have three children and reside in
Anthem.

Paula Hess
Mrs. Hess retired in 1998 from AK Steel Company
with 30 years of service in the Accounts Payable Department and as
the Supervisor of Hourly and Salary Payrolls. Paula attended
Muskingum Area Technical College, Ohio University and was a State
of Ohio Certified Payroll Professional.
Paula served on the Board of Directors of COC Lutheran Church, is
currently a member of the School Board and has been the
Comptroller for COC Christian School since opening in 2005. Paula
and her husband, Campbell moved from Zanesville,Ohio to Anthem in
2001 and are Charter Members of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church.
Mr. & Mrs. Hess have nine grandchildren and one great
granddaughter.
Paula appreciates Arizona’s heat, bike riding, walking, laughing,
trap shooting at Ben Avery and watching forensics. Paula gives
all praise and thanksgiving to God for allowing her to be part of
the staff and your child’s day at Cross of Christ Christian
School.

Sarah Lemke
Ms.
Sarah Lemke grew up in Grand Island, Nebraska and Fort Wayne,
Indiana for the early years of her life. Her family then moved to
Arizona where she attended Martin Luther Lutheran School and
Valley Lutheran High School in Phoenix. She attended Concordia
University in Mequon, Wisconsin where she graduated in May of 2008
with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. She returned to
Arizona in the summer of 2008 to begin her teaching ministry here
at Cross of Christ in Anthem.
Sarah
is so excited to be serving the Lord in this place. She loves
teaching because it is so unpredictable and changes everyday.
More importantly though, teaching gives her the opportunity to
touch lives in a special way and lead children to Jesus. She
believes in praising children for their accomplishments in her
classroom and through this, showing them an example of how they
should treat one another. She strives to create a loving
environment with Jesus as the center of everything that is done.
In
her free time, Ms. Lemke enjoys working out and playing
volleyball, reading, watching baseball games, and spending time
with her friends and family.

Jacqie Mau
Mrs. Mau graduated from Concordia University in St. Paul, MN. She
has served Lutheran schools in Indianapolis, IN, Winfield, KS,
Tucson, AZ, and Houston, TX. She has taught Kindergarten through
8th grade with most of her experience in grades 2-4.
She and her family made Anthem their home in the summer of 2007.
Mrs. Mau enjoys teaching 1st grade at Cross of Christ
currently.
Being a mother of five and grandmother of 6 keeps her life full
and rich. She enjoys hiking, reading, and writing whether with
her family or her husband, who also teaches at Cross of Christ.

Debbie Richardson
Debbie
was born and raised in the Central Valley of California. She
attended Emmanuel Lutheran School from Kindergarten through the 8th
grade. While attending Emmanuel, she felt the Lord’s calling to
be a Lutheran School teacher. After high school, she attended
Concordia College in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She graduated with a
major in English, a minor in History, and a Lutheran Teaching
Diploma. Her first call was to First Lutheran School in Temple
City, California. She taught second, third, fourth and fifth
during her time there as well as being involved in or in charge of
many extracurricular events. Debbie was then called to Cross of
Christ Christian School in 2008. She feels that there is nothing
better then being able to share the love of Jesus with each
student as she helps them take the steps they need to attain their
goals in the future.
Visiting her family in
Fresno, California and traveling are the two things Debbie loves
to do. She also enjoys reading, attending sporting events, going
to the movies and theater, and visiting museums. Debbie is also a
member of Cross of Christ Church.

Sara Rohren
Sara
Rohren grew up in Grand Island, Nebraska. She is the oldest of
three children. She graduated from Concordia University in Seward,
Nebraska in 2004 with a degree in Elementary Education,
concentration in Early Childhood, and a minor in music. Since
graduation, Sara has worked in preschool classrooms and a first
grade classroom.
Sara
likes to shop, go to movies with her husband, walk their dog, go
out to eat, cook, play the piano, and work out in her spare time.
Sara
enjoys teaching children. She loves the joy and laughter that
children bring to her everyday. She likes having the opportunity
to teach children about God and being able to help children grow
up knowing that they can accomplish great things.

Megan Schmidt
Megan
was born in raised in Colorado Springs, CO. She attended Concordia
University in Seward, NE where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in
Elementary Education with a concentration in Early Childhood
Education. Megan joined the Cross of Christ staff in 2006.
Megan loves teaching
because it provides a wonderful opportunity to shape the lives of
children. She believes in working with parents as a team to help
their children grow to be bold and confident Christians. She is
thankful to be teaching in a Christ-centered environment where she
gets to share God’s love with her students and their families.
In
her free time Megan enjoys hiking with her husband and son,
cooking, being with friends, and is always up for a good cup of
coffee.

Becky Tonjes
Becky
Tonjes attended Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska where she
graduated in 2006 with her degree in Elementary Education with a
concentration in Early Childhood Education. After graduation
Becky moved to Missouri where she taught four and five year olds
at St. Paul Early Childhood Center in Des Peres, MO.
Becky grew up in St. Charles, MO where she attended Immanuel
Lutheran School and Lutheran High school. In the summer of 2008
Becky moved from Missouri to Arizona and joined the staff at Cross
of Christ to teach Kindergarten.
Becky enjoys teaching because everyday is different. She loves to
see the face of a child when they discover or accomplish something
for themselves for the first time. She is so thankful for the
opportunity to teach in a Christian school where she can share her
love for Jesus both with the students and families she comes into
contact with. She believes in giving the children choices so they
are empowered and begin taking responsibility for themselves. In
her free time Becky likes to spend time with friends and family or
catch a good concert.

Rachel
White
Rachel
White grew up in St. Louis, Missouri and then moved to Arizona
where she attended Christ Lutheran School in Phoenix and Valley
Lutheran High School. She graduated from Concordia University in
Mequon, Wisconsin with a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood
Education. In the fall of 2005, she joined Cross of Christ and has
been teaching Kindergarten ever since. Currently, she is in the
process of completing her Master’s Degree in Early Childhood
Education with a Reading Endorsement.
Rachel
is thankful for the opportunity to share God’s love with the
children and families that attend Cross of Christ Church and
School. She believes in hugs
and lots of praise to set an example of caring for others.
She strives to create a warm and positive
environment where personal relationships can develop. She enjoys
spending time with friends and family and is always in the middle
of a few good books.
